Tarangire lies to the south of the large open grass plains of southern Maasai land and is the best-kept secret on the northern safari circuit. It offers wonderful panoramas of wide savannah grasslands dotted with open acacia woodland studded with large Baobab trees. The density of game is second only to the crowded Ngorongoro Crater.
This unusual park lies in the shadow of the Great Rift Valley whose reddish brown escarpment wall looms 1,950 feet high (600 metres) on the eastern horizon. Waterfalls spill over the cliff and hot springs bubble to the surface in the south.
Ngorongoro, is a caldera. Caldera – a crater which was created by a collapsing volcano. The Ngorongoro volcano, was actually taller than Kilimanjaro. Today with a diameter of 16-19 km and an area of 265 Sqkm it is the largest crater in the world. From the rim, the crater bed can be seen dotted with animals and with a closer observation, may be with a help of binoculars, one can not only spot herds of buffalos and wildebeest but also some pride of lions or even rhinos.

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Pick up from your Arusha Hotel morning and drive to Tarangire National Park a game park with thousands of majestic baobab trees dotting the rolling countryside. It is also home to enormous herds of elephants and the highest number of recorded bird species for any habitat in the world. The Tarangire River runs through the land, providing a permanent water source, and along with it the promise of strong wildlife. After lunch at our mid-range tented camps or Lodge we relax by the pool or in our cozy tents before proceeding with game drive in the park. Later back to your Camp or Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Tarangire -Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park. The game in this petite park is plentiful and the magnificent bird watching will make a devotee out of even the most reluctant. It is also one of the very few places in Africa to see tree-climbing lions, which we may declare our day’s quest, being so thoroughly sated with the big herds of preceding parks. Manyara’s great shock of pink flamingoes will also delight. We enjoy a hot lunch at mid-range tented camps or Lodge. Later proceed to the park for game viewing till evening, back to the Camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro Crater -Arusha
After breakfast we’re off on the next leg of our journey to Ngorongoro, the eighth wonder of the natural world. Along the way we drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area—a region created to accommodate the grazing needs of the Masai people and a unique test of the idea that humans leading a pastoral lifestyle can coexist with wildlife. We arrive on the rim of the crater and descend 2,000 feet into the giant caldera of this extinct volcano. This magnificent natural amphitheater contains the largest concentration of animals in all of Africa. Prides of lion, black rhino and elephant share this land with the legendary Masai tribesmen. Because the grasses are short, game is easily spotted and can be approached quite closely. We spend a splendid morning on the floor of the crater observing wildlife in this ageless World Heritage Site. After lunch at the hippo picnic site we continue on a game drive en-route as we ascend the crater driving back to Arusha. Arrive Arusha Hotel late evening for dinner and your booked hotel.
That’s end of your 3 days Tanzania safari on a private
